In 1850, James Coburn, a farmer from near Banbridge, founded one of Ireland's best known seed companies which still bears his name. From humble beginings James Coburn & Son Ltd had become an established seed machiner exporting Irish Perennial Ryegrass and Dogstail as far afield as New Zealand. By the late 1940's we were packing grass seed mixtures for the use of Irish farmers and had begun importing Timothies, Clovers and other popular varieties of the day to become one of the countries foremost seed suppliers. When the home produced ryegrass trade came to an end in the late sixties the company having been acquired by Germinal Holdings continued to enjoy a large slice of the agriculture seed market.

Coburns entered the Golf and Amenity market in 1987 covering all Ireland from its Banbridge base. We offer a comprehensive range of seeds mixtures comprising many top of the range cultivars so desired by Ireland's leading golf clubs. Now established as a leading supplier, our extensive portfolio includes Bayer Environmental Science, Amenity Technology., Sustane, Amega Sciences, Fleetline Marking and an exclusive range of Seaweed Fertiliser and Irish Native Wild Flower mixtures. We are Ireland's leading supplier of Providence Creeping Bentgrass and also the exceptionally wear tolerant Avalon Velvet Bentgrass..

In the 1950's Coburns established a retail shop in the thriving market town of Banbridge and this has proved an invaluable focal point for the company until the present day.
